Harkins Summer Movie Fun

Print a Paper Form

Orders are filled on a first come, first serve basis, so we will be placing orders weekly. Use the button above to print a paper form. Forms were also given to the teachers to send home today. No online orders will be accepted. Make sure you clearly mark your first and second choices for both theater and day of week. Parent and child tickets are the same price. Tickets are $7 per person.

If you haven’t attended the Summer Movie Program at Harkins before, here’s a little more about it:

  • All movies start at 9:45am.
  • One movie is shown each week. The movies are shown in the order listed above.
  • Your ticket is valid for guaranteed entry at your theater on your day only. You can attend on a different day if there are spaces available when you show up to the theater (there is usually room).
  • You can give your tickets to someone else if you can’t attend one week.
  • All “rooms” in a theater are showing the same movie, so pick whichever room you like.
  • The showings are very kid friendly, so little kids are ok to bring.
  • Everyone 3 years and older needs a ticket.  Seats are only guaranteed for ticket holders so children 2 and under may need to sit on a parent’s lap.
  • Parents must stay with kids.
  • No adults without children will be admitted, so Grandma must enter with your family if she wants to come.
  • You can use your Harkins Loyalty Cups during the Summer Movie.

Box Tops Competition

It’s Box Top Clipping Time!

It’s similar to competitions we’ve done before. Read below for the details and rules.

The competition runs during the week of February 11-15, from 8:15-8:33 each morning. Look for the table with bins under the East Ramada. Make sure your Box Tops are in the bins before the first bell rings at 8:38 if you want them to be counted.

The winning grade will win a Valentine’s Day themed sweet treat. We will announce the results on Monday, after the competition ends.

The Fine Print

  • Each valid Box Top will count as 1 point.
  • Neatly trimmed, valid Box Tops will count as 5 points per Box Top.
    • A valid Box Top is one that has not expired and shows the brand code in the corner. Box Tops that are not valid will not be counted.
    • Neatly trimmed is defined as a Box Top that is cut within a quarter-inch of the dotted line and is not “torn” on more than one edge.
  • To earn points, place your Box Tops in the bin for your grade. That’s it!

Remember, if they are NEATLY TRIMMED,

they are worth 5 points each!

Now, go scour the house for Box Tops to bring in.

Are you good at putting together puzzles?

We need your help!

We recently purchased a RubberMaid shed for the sports equipment the students use at recess. We need your help putting pavers down and building the shed.

If you’re interested in helping, fill out this simple form to let us know your name, contact information and availability.

All supplies will be provided for you. We just need a handful of hands to put it together.

These are the proposed dates to have parents on campus to build the shed. Please check all times during which you are available to help.

We are also collecting balls and other sports items the students use at recess. Our biggest need is a shelving unit to hold all of the equipment. The shed is 7’x7′ with a peak of 8.5′ (side height about 6.5′) Click the button below to be taken to a Sign Up Genius with details. Gently used equipment is great!

BUILD THE CASTLE

Paper Drive

January 28 – February 1

One thing every Neely parent knows is that our school uses a LOT of paper.

Teachers are doing what they can to use less paper every day, but kids learn best when they can touch and see something physically in front of them.

Our campus paper supply is very low and our teachers need our help to make it to the end of the year with enough paper. One of our most helpful events, the Costco shopping night, was discontinued by Costco this year. In the past we have gotten 8-10 cases of paper from that one event. Please help us provide our teachers with one of the basic materials they need.

Bring it in by the ream, the case, or the pallet. Colored or White paper, we will use it all!

We will also accept cash/check donations if you don’t have time to shop. We can use it to buy paper in bulk at a discount.

The Prizes

We need your help in filling our stage with so many reams of paper that we can construct a CASTLE with it! If we can, everyone will earn a special school-wide reward!

How big of a castle do you want to build?

  • Cool Castle: Otterpops for everyone (800 reams)
  • Awesome Castle: Otterpops PLUS a Pajama Day the Friday before Spring Break! (1600 reams)

Also with every ream you donate, you will get one ticket to Skateland for a special Neely Only Skate Party and Indoor Snowball Fight on Tuesday, February 26, from 5:00-7:30pm. Bring your own skates or rent them for only $3.50.

Thank you for donating!

Be sure to subscribe to our website and follow us on Facebook. If we find any paper deals, we will post them!

The night includes dinner, dancing, a craft, nail painting, and a photo. Our committee has been planning this event since August and they have thought of everything to make it a magical night for you and your girl.

Come dressed in your best Hollywood Glam looks.

Read below to learn about the night’s events.

Italian Dinner Catered by Floridino’s

Spaghetti with red sauce or bolognese (meat) sauce

or

Ziti Alfredo

Both options are served with a green salad with Italian or Ranch dressing on the side, bread with butter available, and cookies for dessert.

Drinks include water, juice, and soda.

Dinner is served under the ramada at your convenience. The food is served outside C7.

Dedicated Photo Booth Time

There will be 2 professional photo booths with elegant props. Each girl’s ticket includes one printed 4×6 photo. Photos will be emailed or sent by text that night and printed photos delivered 10 days later.

When you arrive at the event, you will be given a wristband with a 15 minute time block. This is your dedicated time to take a picture as a family at the photo booth.

Photos will be taken in C7, across from the cafeteria.

Professional DJ

Enjoy dancing the night away with your girl as the DJ entertains the crowd with fun songs enhanced by great lighting.

Activities

A nail painting station and a jeweled photo frame craft will round out the night’s events. Please visit these at your convenience. The craft is located in the music room and nail painting is east of the ramada.

The cost of the event is $35 for the first Gentlemen/Girl couple, and each additional girl is $15.

Registration is online only. Payment is accepted by Credit Card, Cash, or Check (made out to Neely PTO).

When your order is complete, you will receive an email with your entrance tickets. Please have them printed or available on your phone on February 8th as you check in. This will help keep the line short.

No corsages will be sold this year.

Registration for paid PTO members opens on January 18 at 4pm with General Registration opening at 8am on January 21.

A paid registration is required to attend. There is a limit of 150 families. A wait list will be available after the event fills.

Link is not active until 8am on Monday, January 21. Please be patient as our site is low cost and can get overwhelmed with a lot of traffic. Refresh if you see a 500 or database error.

Please click here to register for the 2019 Sweetheart Dance

We expect the event to fill quickly, and no registrations will be accepted after February 4th at 4pm. ALL payments must be received by 9am on February 5th, no exceptions. All unpaid registrations after that time will be removed.

Evening of the Arts

Mrs. Bergman has worked devotedly over the years to instill a love of art in her students. This is an opportunity to appreciate the artist in each of your children.

Like last year, art will be displayed in beautiful frames, which can be purchased and taken home that evening. A percentage of the sales will be given back to the school to help develop our specials programs.

After you have found and admired your child’s art, be sure to stop at all the creative stations around the campus. There is rock painting, a craft based upon Yayoi Kusama’s Obliteration room, artist interviews by 6th graders, and a selfie station for photos.

In addition, there will be displays from our students demonstrating how math, science, music, and art intersect. Experience objects in our world from the perspective of someone one-tenth of our size; delve into the ever-creative world of science experimentation; and enjoy the musical talents of the best of our band and orchestra students along with other talented children in our school community.  Treats and hot chocolate will be available for sale for $1.00 each.  Select the image on this page for details on the framed art pre-sale.

The event is completely free to attend. Please dress appropriately for the weather as all of the art and activity stations will be located outdoors.

Reading Is Fun!

+

We would like to encourage all of our students to continue reading over Winter Break. The difference 20 minutes of reading a day can make in a child’s future is amazing!

We Love Our School

=

Our school needs funds to do things like shade our playgrounds and update old equipment. The money for these items is not in the district budget.

A Read-A-Thon!

Let’s raise some funds and help our children start the new semester off strong! A little bit from many people can go a long way to helping us achieve our goals.

Details of the Read-A-Thon:

Kids read a LOT of books at Neely. We want to encourage them to keep up the good work over the holiday break.

Here is how it works:

Parents will track their child’s reading in minutes.

Kids will contact their friends and family and ask for a donation of any amount for each minute they read over break or for a one-time donation for completing any reading over break.

    • Cash or check can be used for one-time donations.
    • Parents can collect cash or check for “per minute” donations if they do the calculations manually (# of  minutes read  x $ donated per minute).
    • Friends and family can use  this website  to document their “per minute” pledge or  to send in a one-time donation and pay with a credit card.
    • Parents will need to log the total number of minutes on the website during the week of January 7th for the credit card to be charged.
    • Donations are due to school by January 14 at 4pm to be considered for the prize.

We keep 100% of the check/cash donations and 90% of credit card donations.

The other 10% is for admin fees from the Read-A-Thon site.

A couple of rules to keep things fair:

  • All books must be previously unread by that child.
  • We would prefer that the books be close to their AR level in difficulty to ensure their reading progress continues.
  • Children who can read independently must read the books themselves. Kindergarten or other students who still need support can log minutes read with an adult’s help or read on their own.

The prizes

Read 5 Hours (300 Minutes)

Every child who reads at least 20 minutes a day, for 15 days (for a total of 300 minutes) will receive a ThumbThing. It helps you hold open your book when you read!

Read the Most Minutes in Your Grade

The student who reads the most minutes in each grade will receive a Barnes and Noble Gift Card.

In case of a tie of minutes completed, we will determine a random tie breaker.

Raffle Entry for Reading More Than 5 Hours

We also have 2 grand prizes! Each full hour of reading after the first 5 is worth ONE (1) entry into the drawing for the grand prize raffle.

Primary (K-2) will be put in a drawing for this fun laptop that can change into a tablet!

Intermediate (3-6) will be entered into a second drawing for an XBox One with NBA2K19 and an Echo Dot, 3rd Generation

Raise the Most Money by Reading

Students will have one (1) week after the Read-A-Thon ends (until January 14th @ 4pm) to collect cash and online pledges. The winner of this Nintendo Switch with a Mario game is the student with the highest total collections before fees are deducted.
